Theater 2010

Last year we worked on many exciting theater projects with Beaumont Community Players and Port Arthur Little Theater. Here is a little summary of each.
  • Once Upon a Mattress-PALT
    • Cast as Sir Harry
    • Once Upon a Mattress is a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. The play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea.
  • Frankenstein-PALT
    • Cast as the MONSTER
    • The Frankenstein monster symbolizes the uncontrollable monster that science can become. And, of course, the monster symbolizes all the misfits in the world—the unloved, unwanted specimens of humankind. Because he does not look like the rest of us, we call him ugly and we fear him. And because we fear him, we want to destroy him. Mary Shelley gave her monster a kind and tender heart, a love for people, and a desire to be loved in return. But he was never loved, not by one single person.
  • Romeo and Harriet-Beaumont Kidmunity Summer Program
    • Directed the Summer Show
    • Hayes and Sydney both had parts in this comedy. (Hayes was Tybalt and Sydney played The Nurse) Emma and Mark helped backstage.
    • This hilarious musical spoof puts the “shake” in Shakespeare!  The stage is set in modern-day New York City, where clerks of the swanky Montague’s Department store and the second-rate Capulet’s Discount Mart meet in the street to trade insults.  Words are their daggers, so watch out, you might die laughing!  Naturally, the heirs to these two retail empires, Romeo and Harriet, fall in love, but don’t think you know the rest...  this musical has a happy ending!
  • Sound of Music-Lamar Port Arthur and Port Arthur Little Theater
    • Cast as the Captain
    • The Sound of Music (1959) is a musical with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. It is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers
    • This show was absolutely fabulous. It brought tears to our eyes!
  • Beverly Hillbillies-Port Arthur Little Theater
    • Director
    • We all pitched in with this one. this was an absolute blast. We did the whole show in gray-scale as if it were the old black n white TV program. The Beverly Hillbillies is an American situation comedy originally broadcast for nine seasons on CBS from 1962 to 1971.The series is about a poor backwoods family transplanted to Beverly Hills, California, after striking oil on their land.
  • White Christmas-Port Arthur Little Theater
    • Cast as Phil Davis
    • Chad really got to use his dancing talent in this was one, lots of tap. This show really got us in the Christmas spirit. It was so much fun!
    • After leaving the Army after W.W.II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up to become a top song-and-dance act. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General.
